Pacific Life Open: Recent Occurrences

As expected in ATP the top 16 of the first half of the table are through. Despite the dissapointments of Jie Zheng, Flavia Pennetta and Maria kirilenko everything is in plan and it seems Maria will play Martina in the semis.
Big shock however came in the ATP's. It seemed as if there was some kind of Seed bashing going on. Many seeds were beaten. Mosts shockingly Roger Federer. I am utterly shocked by Canas beating Federer 7-5 6-2, well I guess great players have bad days too. I wanted to see Lleyton Hewitt play Federer but even Hewitt has dropped out. Though a tough game he still lossed. That leaves David ferrer as the only seed there as Radek Stepanek dropped out too. I didn't expect the departure of tursunov and Melzer also lossed. That means only 3 seeds are left in that Quartet. Hopefully Blake will get to the Semis there.
I am disspointed with Henman losing so early, but he isn't at his best of times I guess. The loss of Marat Safin is strong too me as I really wanted Marat to do well. On the bottom however Haas is still fighting strong. Sad that Mardy Fish has dropped out.And what happened to Baghdatis, Youzhny and Berdych all going out to relatively weaker opponents. Also Robredo as well. That means 18 seeds are left in the last 32, nearly a half! My Semi Finalists line up would be Blake, Haas or Murray, Roddick and anyone else in the last Quartet but what would probably happen is Blake, Davydenko, Roddick and Nadal. You can see with Federer gone the tour is much more open to taking. and congrats to both the Murrays for winning there doubles match respectively.
