Sony Ericsson Open: Nearing the End

Sadly some off my recent posts have been missing so I'll just have to update everything from the last post published. Well I am estatic that Serena thrashed Maria Sharapova and in less than an hour as well. Serena is back for sure. I had never doubted Nicole Vaidisova in not getting to the Quatres, she was the best on her eighth. Though she lost to Serena I thought she had a very good tournament and I wish she could win a Tier I tournament and get inot the top 5. I knew that between Shahar Peer and Tatiana Garbin that Shahar would win and i am really happy she beat Kuznetsova as well. Though I wanted Radwanska to play peer as she is in my fantasy Tennis team (because all my favourites are in the same group practically). I was so happy when Jelena Jankovic lost, I am sorry but I detest her and I don't want her to win. Also I congratulate Na Li for beating Kim Clijsters, though she then lost to Anna Chakevtadze she had a great tournament and thoroughly deserved her Quatre Final finsih. Also I am very happy for Justine as this is her first Semi Final appearance here. Though i would have liked her opponent to be Safina, but the important thing is she beat Nadia Petrova . Hopefully finalists would be Serena and Justine.
On the ATP a revelation has occured. Federer was beaten yet again by Canas. Even though i wanted Richard Gasquet to play Federer I praise Canas for beating Federer again, finally someone is dominating him now. Other than that I hope in the top half Ljubicic will go through. I am so sorry for Roddick though. I really wanted to see a good match between Murray and Roddick though Roddick retired. Hope he is OK for his draw against Spain. Now however I would get to see Djokovic and Murray two of my favourite young players go head to head again. Hopefully this time Murray gets to the Final as he deserves it and he is British so I want Britain to do well. If he can win the tournament I will be so happy. Ljubicic and Murray Final hopefully.

Sony Ericsson Open: What's Going On

In the ATP the first eighth is going as planned. I didn't think Juan would beat Canas so I was right. Hope Gasquet will get to play Federer though. The second eighth I'm dissapointed that Tommy has gone. Guess you can't have it all your way as he's been doing really good the past few weeks. That leaves only Gasquet as the only one liked in the first Quartet. The whole top half is now a zone that I don't like as only Gasquet is liked by me. Hope Ljubcic gets to the semis as he hasn't been doing well lately.
Hurray, theres one thing to celebrate about. Gonzalez has left meaning Murray's job will be even more easier against Mathieu. That means a match with Roddick will be possible, nearly inevitable. Another dissapointment came for me that Youzhny was knocked out meaning only Djokovic is favoured by me. That means my semi's wish is
Gasquet Vs. Ljubicic
Roddick Vs. Djokovic
In the WTA an inevitable but still saddening loss has struck me and that is Venus William's loss to Maria Sharapova. I am happy however that it was three sets and nearly beat Sharapova. Serena's match isn't finished yet but i think she'll win, hope she beats Maria as well. I think Vaidisova has nearly ensured her match against Sharapova/Williams, she has quite an easy match against Dushevina. I forgot to say this in the last post, Congrats to Kateryna even though she lost to Kuznetsova she was very close to beating her so good job. Sadly Alona lossed out in the same round though. Well in the second half I don't really favour anyone except for maybe Agnieszka Radwanska so good luck, you have a tough journey ahead, don't think Martina's the toughest. However i do feel sorry for Martina, she's lossed to lower ranks in the past few tournaments. Hope she gets better. However dissapointed that Ana Ivanovic lossed so early as well as Jie Zheng.
Another thing to celebrate is the loss of Jelena jankovic, even though I'm not to keen on Mara I am happy that Jelena lossed. her form seems to have dropped. Another celebration is Na Li. She has only dropped 3 games in the tour, though she is going to face menace Clijsters I hope she will do well. As well hope Safina will beat Petrova and Henin will beat Zvonareva who i don't really like. I'd much rather have Hantuchova than her.

Sony Ericsson Open: Week so far

In the WTA the first half are still in the second round so there isn't much to say, except for I am amazed Sybille Bammer was ousted in the first round as I thought she would be a difficult opponent. Also congrats to Kateryna Bondarenko!
On the Second half they are in the third round. I had expected Jelena to beat Shuai but I really hoped she could win, though she had a great first match 60 60. Anna Chakvetadze also nearly did that to Vaslisa Bardina but 61 60. Congratulations to both Na Li and Samantha Stosur and to a controversial win by Kim Clijsters 46 60 60 to Akiko Morigami.
I think know that Nadia has a scarce chance of getting to the semis as she scrapped through Nathalie Dechy. Sadly Martina Muller lost out to Virginie Razzano but overall the seeds are intact.
Some new news in, happy that Maria, Martina and Nicole are through but Nicole seems to have slipped a bit taking three sets to beat Michaella. Hope its only a one off. Estactic that Patty Schnyder, Francesca Schiavone and Marion Bartoli are all out and that kaia Kanepi and Julia Vakulenko were amongst the three to beat them. Sadly however Ashley Harkleroad was beaten quite convincingly as well as Jie Zheng and Alona Bondarenko. Three of my favoured players.
On the ATP side yet again the top half are only in the second round but comissaries to Henman, he's never coming back is he after two first round defeats. I'm now crossing my fingers for Venus Williams to beat Maria Kirilenko, though I like Maria I really want Venus to climb back up the rankings, Hope Kateryna can do well against Svetlana, asking for a win will be pushing it but three sets should be Ok. Also hope a safe journey for Ana Ivanovic and Serena Williams both playing Qualifiers.
On the other hand the bottom half has made me really unhappy. Firstly Hewitt withdrew, even though that would make Murray's job all the more easier I still wanted him to compete. Then we have Tursunov my Round 4 hopeful who lost to a Qualifier I have never heard of. To add salt to the wound both James Blake and Marat Safin have lost and not even to anyone particularly strong. I just really hope that Marat Safin will get back to some of his best tennis, he seems to be losing quite often. Also I think James Blake is in some sort of dry spell he seems to be losing quite often too. David Hrbaty has also dropped out leaving only Novak Djokovic. In one of my most favoured eighths already the cast has dwindled. I'm so dissapointed. But the one thing to put a smile to my face is that Marcos Bagdatis is doing very badly nowadays. I'm sorry I just dislike him, no offence!

Sony Ericsson Open

I was so excited about this tournament, hearing of all the players that were to enter and all the history of the tournament. But when I saw the draws it nearly destroyed my day!
I will analyse the draws and venting my dissapointment whenever necessery.
OK in the ATP The first eighth of the draw has a line up which I think will not cause much problems to Federer. Though he lost early in the Pacific Life I think he will still be the one to beat here. I would really want the americans Sam Querrey and Alex Kuznetsov to play as I think the Americans need a boost but It will never happen. I would hope Tim Henman to go far but I would rather Richard Gasquet play Federer than Henman. Haas as you may well know by now is one of my favoured players. I also think with his form now he will be fine in his eighth. The draw is however quite week for me so Federer would have a rather easy time if he has his best form. I would however hope that this quartet ends up with Gasquet against Haas but Federer may replace Gasquet.
I do not like the second quartet of the draw as there is nobody I particularly like. As I don't really like anyone here I dont mind who goes through as long as it is not Nalbandian.
The third Quartet I think is OK, could be better. I hope that Murray will get to the Quaters with as you all know Roddick. I would love that to occur. But if Andy does not get through I would hope for Hewitt and Tursunov for Roddick. I also think the two have high possibilities to get through.
The fourth really annoyed me as Blake could play Safin really early on. I like both though Safin is my favourite I still want both of them to get far. I would also like Djokovic to get to the Quaters. I would also jope that Youzhny would get to the Quaters as I detest Baghdatis and Nadal has won the Pacific Life.
Overall I will complain that the second quartet has barely anyone who I think could win or I like and the fourth Quartet contains too many of my favoured players and I don' want to see them knocked out early on in the tournament. Overall Haas, Ljubicic (he needs a good tournament), Roddick and Safin for the Semis (slim chance)!!!

WTA is the main is the main annoyance.
What the heck are they doing those people. I am really dissapointed that Venus Williams was drawn so that she may play Sharapova as early as the third round. Venus is a good player but she hasn't played for a while so she would probably take a thrashing from Sharapova. As well as that I like Kirilenko and she really needs a good tournament. except for Nuria I like all of the other 5 players to an extent. So unhappy. and to put more damage Serena may play Sharapova in the fourth and worse yet she may play Venus. She also has the difficult draw of maybe playing Safarova or Bammer. I pray for her to do well I wish she can get back to the top 10. Then to top that off we may have Vaidisova playing them in the Quaters. Three out of Four of my most favourite players are in the same Quartet, the only one missing is Henin. This would mean that probs Sharapova will take out two or so of my favourite players and the worst is if Serena goes to play Nicole all hell will break loose. I however have belief that Nicole will have little difficulty to get to the Quarters.
On the second quartet I would wish that the Bondarenko sisters could play. I dislike Kuznetsova so I wish Kateryna could beat her. I hope then Julia Vakulenko will play Peer and beat her (I'm hallucinating aren't I) and then play Alona in the fourth round. Then Ivanovic will play Zheng hopefully, but I don't mind Hingis. However I think there isn't enough of people I like in this Quartet. The big possibility is a clash between Kuznetsova and Hingis.
I apologize in advance to all thos Jankovic fans but I think she is my most dislike player in the tour and for her to play shuai peng is disspointing as Shuai Peng has no chance. However I would like it to be Shuai Peng against Chakvetadze. If only Venus or Serena could have transfered here then that would be great. Then on the bottom we have Na Li who I want to go far. I really hope she gets to play Clijsters who I think will get to the Semis or further. I would however prefer Stosur to get to the Quaters than Clijsters. The first half of the fourth Quartet is anothe dissapointment that I only like Dinara Safina. I really dont want anyone else to get to the Quarters from this block but Petrova will probably do that. Though Hantuchova won the last one I think Henin could beat her so fingers crossed. However on Henins eight I like most of them though Henin is by far my favourite I still hope Pennetta can get far!!!
Quarter Finals in my dreams would be
Serena Williams/Venus Williams(she need a good tournament to get back) Vs Nicole Vaidisova
Alona Bondarenko Vs Ana Ivanovic/ Jie Zheng
Shuai Peng Vs. Na Li
Dinara Safina Vs. Justine Henin
definitely needs a better draw overall. China to the end!!!

Pacific Life Open: Nearing the end

Congrats to Daniela Hantuchova for winning her second Pacific Life Open Title. Hapy she beat Svetlana Kuznetsova who knocked out Nicole. Sadly Murray lost as well Roddick but they did well know I hope Djokovic wins. Good Luck

Pacific Life Open: Up To Now

I am really happy today as the two that were more favoured by me in the WTA have gone to the Semis. Congrats to Na Li who has beaten Vera and Jelena. I think she seems to do better under pressure as she at the start of the tour normally wins by a small amount but then she fires off some great matches like beating Jankovic and Zvonareva in Straight Sets. Congrats also go to Hantuchova. To be honest I never thought she could gte to the Semis with Martina their but good for her. To be very honest I think Na Li will get to the final and I hope she does to, but if Hantuchova can keep her form she is a tough cookie.
I am also ecstatic about the ATP results. Carlos Moya against David Ferrer wasn't too much of an interest to me but it's good that Ferrer won. I am happy also that Djokovic won. The two that I was looking for was Andy Murray and Tommy Haas who both won as underdogs, Congrats!!! Even better is that Tommy Haas beat Gonzalez 63 62 an utter bashing. I think it will be Djokovic against Haas but like what has happened, this week is the underdogs week.

Pacific Life Open: Quatrefinals

Shock Horror. At least 4 expected players have fallen. What happened? Well anyway I never thought Maria Sharapova will be beaten by Vera Zvonareva. I really rather have Maria than Vera to be honest get to the Quatres. Congrats to Na Li in beating Jelena Jankovic in straight sets. Really didn't think Na Li would win but great achievement you should be possible to beat Vera after this Go to the semis and make China proud. Despite not really minding who went through between Martina and Daniela I was nearly sure Martina was going to get to the semis. She didn't even put up a great fight! Though Shahar Peer was a lower rank I had expected her to win already so nopt much of a shock. Even though they had said Sybille Bammer was doing great at the moment I didn't really expect her to beat Ivanovic. and good for Golovin to beat Petrova. Really Happy!!! Congrats to Vaidisova you can do it girl you just got the no 2 seed Kuznetsova!!! Hope she can beat her I will be so happy. The winner I think is going to be decided between the Kuznetsova/Vaidisova match. Nobody else has much of a chance.
In ATP I hope Djokovic will play Haas but I don't mind Murray though. I am unhappy to say that I think they won't get there. In the second half I hope Roddick will play Nadal. Nadal because I like him more than Chela.

Pacific Life Open: Last 16

In WTA as usual there hasn't been many upsets. Maria Sharapova will probably play Jelena Jankovic in the Quatres. In the other top half I still think Martina Hingis will get to the semis so she will probably have to beat Shahar Peer. Ana Ivanovic will play Nadia Petrova and Petrova will get to semis. I think it is nearly definite that Nicole will play Kuznetsova. I am a bit dissapointed that Dinara Safina did not get to the last 16 because I like her (mainly because she is Safin's sister). Well I hope Vaidisova can get to the semis but Svetlana looks quite strong. If I was to choose it would be Sharapova, Hantuchova, Ivanovic and Vaidisova.
In the ATP I am still in shock that Federer lost and know that Blake has gone also his quartet looks wide open. I hope Djokovic will get to the semis out of the four. The other Quartet still looks strong however the two people I like Murray and Haas are underdogs in there match so hopefully they can beat their opponents. I am really interested in the Gasquet and Roddick match as I like both of them but Roddick more. I want Roddick to get to the finals. On the fourth Quartet I don't really like anyone so I will just pick M Russell as i dislike the other three.

Pacific Life Open: Recent Occurrences

As expected in ATP the top 16 of the first half of the table are through. Despite the dissapointments of Jie Zheng, Flavia Pennetta and Maria kirilenko everything is in plan and it seems Maria will play Martina in the semis.
Big shock however came in the ATP's. It seemed as if there was some kind of Seed bashing going on. Many seeds were beaten. Mosts shockingly Roger Federer. I am utterly shocked by Canas beating Federer 7-5 6-2, well I guess great players have bad days too. I wanted to see Lleyton Hewitt play Federer but even Hewitt has dropped out. Though a tough game he still lossed. That leaves David ferrer as the only seed there as Radek Stepanek dropped out too. I didn't expect the departure of tursunov and Melzer also lossed. That means only 3 seeds are left in that Quartet. Hopefully Blake will get to the Semis there.
I am disspointed with Henman losing so early, but he isn't at his best of times I guess. The loss of Marat Safin is strong too me as I really wanted Marat to do well. On the bottom however Haas is still fighting strong. Sad that Mardy Fish has dropped out.And what happened to Baghdatis, Youzhny and Berdych all going out to relatively weaker opponents. Also Robredo as well. That means 18 seeds are left in the last 32, nearly a half! My Semi Finalists line up would be Blake, Haas or Murray, Roddick and anyone else in the last Quartet but what would probably happen is Blake, Davydenko, Roddick and Nadal. You can see with Federer gone the tour is much more open to taking. and congrats to both the Murrays for winning there doubles match respectively.

Pacific Life Open First Week

Well in the womens draw Maria Sharapova looks poised to take her Quatre of the draw whukst upsets go to Flavia Pennetta and Jie Zheng. I hope Na Li will be able to withstand the onslaught of Alona Bondarenko and possibly Jelena Jankovic to safely face up against Maria Sharapova. Martina also looks strong at the moment with not much of an opposition until the semis. I believe that on the other side Shahar Peer will play Anna Chakvetadze but out of the four I like Maria Kirilenko more so hopefully she can get through.
On the other half I hope Shuai Peng can get to the semi's. though she will face an early opponent of Alicia Molik or Ana Ivnovic and further will need to take down someone like nadia Petrova, Good Luck. Samantha Stosur and Shuai Peng to the Quatres. Nicole is looking quite safe with Dinara Safina taking a difficult match against Marta Domachowska. The possiblity of playing Svetlana Kuznetsova is strong so hopefully she can beat her.

Pacific Life Open Top Draws

For me Maria Sharapova did not do aswell as I thought 76(5) 64, I would of thought an easier match. I am dissapointed that Flavia Pennetta and Jie Zheng have been knocked out, hopefully they'll go far in there next tour. Congrats to Na Li for beating Nicole Pratt. The possible winners however are still in. On the other side nothing really shocked me except for Lucie Safarova taking so long to beat Agnieszka Radwanska 63 67(2) 76(4). Comissaries go to Tiantian Sun for losing 63 60. So top draw quatrefinalists seems to be Maria Sharapova(1), Jelena Jankovic(7) or Na Li(12), Martina Hingis (3) and I don't know in the I think all of them are capable of getting to the quatres in there line up

Thursday 8 March 2007

Pacific Life Open Men's Draw

I hate to say it but Roger Federer looks poised to take another title. Though he is an exceptional player I would really like it if there were much more of a competition for the winners title.
In the first Quartet an inevitable victory will be given to Roger Federer I believe, though the win maybe difficult I think he can beat the opposition. Hopefully Lleyton Hewitt could beat him for a more open game, On the other side Blake would be a good quarter finalist and I don't really mind Djokovic or Tursunov as they are both OK. So hopefully Federer, Hewitt, Djokovic and Blake. Blake to the Final hopefully.
Second Quartet I think has a much more open game, I don't really know who I think would get to the Semi Finals. What I hope for is Marat Safin but probably Davydenko or Gonzalez will go through. Being British i would have to support Henman so I hope Henamn will play Safin in the 4th Round, though probably that will be impossible with Davydenko, however I hope the Safin and Murray match will be close as I like Safin but I have to support Murray as well as he is Britain's hope, so either way would be fine but hopefully Safin. I also like Haas so hopefully he will get through.to play Gonzalez. In the end I hope it is Safin against Haas but it will probs be Davydenko against Gonzalez with a possibility of someone replacing them.
The third Quartet I would have to say I hope Roddick can get to the Semi's. Llubijic will probably play Nalbandian, whilst Gasquet against Roddick. That would be fine by me except for Mardy Fish replacing Nalbandian.
The fourth Quartet has no one that I really hope for to win but some that I am sure I want to lose. I guess then I hope Nadal gets to the Semis as he is the second seed so technically is most capable of beating Federer. As long as Baghdatis does not get to the semi's I am fine. Maybe I wouldn't mind Youzhny he's Ok.
So to recap Blake against Safin and Roddick against Youzhny.

Pacific Life Open First Rounds

This year I think in the women's side it is going to go one way and that is Maria Sharapova getting to the final and possibly winning it. I don't see her being stopped by anyone in particular before the final
The first Quartet of the draws seem to be an easy victory for Maria Sharapova though I do like Flavia Pennetta and Na Li and lesser of Martina Muller, Jie Zheng and Alona Bonadrenko I don't really think they will be able to take her down. The biggest opponent should be Jelena Jankovic but Maria can surely beat her. Hopefully then it will be Maria Sharapova against Jie Zheng in the 4th round whilst Na Li and Martina Muller in the next. You can guess I don't like Jelena Jankovic. However Jankovic will probably get to the Quatres
In the Second Quartet I think Martina will hold strong against her opponents, except for maybe Lucie Safarova upsetting some top seeds I don't see to much of a problem. Hopefully it will be Hingis against Hantuchova and Tiantian Sun against Kirilenko but Tiantian sun would be an impossible wish so it would end up with two rising stars Peer and Safarova to battle for the spot.
After Elena Dementieva's withdrawal the third Quartet looks even weaker. Nadia Petrova looks to be the strongest but Ana Ivanovic and Samantha Stosur as well as the alluring Alicia Molik could cause a bit of an upset, however even though I dislike Nadia I think she will win this Quartet without much difficulty. Hopefully Peng will play Ivanovic and Stosur will get to the Quarters as in Petrova's group I do not really like anyone.
Finally the fourth Quartet. I think Kuznetsova on paper has the best results but I would hope Vaidisova could come out with a victorious finish to defeat Kuznetsova. So Vaidisova against Safina and Meng Yuan against Lilia Osterloh (will never happen 500 to 1)
So I would like Vaidisova to win I think it would give her career a real boost considering her young age but Sharapova will pribably be the victor. Hopes on Sharapova and Vaidisova in final.
Wish Justine Henin was in, as well as the Williams sisters.

Introduction

This is my first post on my tennis blog. On here I will be mainly focusing on the WTA tour but I will also add ATP stuff as well. Hope you enjoy.
